Improved earth and bamboo construction techniques to reduce vulnerability

  • Community: Nobu para, Bangladesh

  • Partner: RIBA Boyd Auger

With 31.5% of Bangladesh’ population living below the poverty line it is vital to consider the cost of materials and their life cycle. We worked with the community of Nobu para to create a new housing prototype in an area at risk of severe storms, landslides and earthquakes. Together we tested ideas around materiality, space efficiency and modest improvements to construction.
